It is the day after Memorial Day in America, the day after Americans celebrate and remember those who have died to preserve our freedoms. Yesterday we did not remember those who died on September 11, 2001 or September 11, 2012 or any of those murdered at Fort Hood, Texas or any of those who died in the first World Trade Center bombing. We did not pause to celebrate our freedom from terror or Jihadists or Islamofacists, and for a good reason.

An Excellent Spirit knows that we are neither free from terror, safe from those who practice Jihad or secure that Islamofacists who are here in America today will not again and again rain terror, death and destruction down in American cities on innocent, unsuspecting Americans, men, women and children!

An Excellent Spirit spent Memorial Day in thanksgiving for our freedom, in prayer for those we knew and did not know who died and sacrificed to preserve those freedoms and in prayer for our nation, so horribly under fire and vulnerable due to the policies of those in power, on both sides of the political spectrum!

Last week we read an article by Dr. Mike Brown, our friend and a scholar of no mean credentials, entitled “Is Radical Islam Normal Islam”. It was informative and quite revealing. We will have more to say about that article below.

Today we read two articles on PJ Media and PJ Tatler that really opened a can of terror and Jihad on America and soon! The first, by Spengler at PJ Media entitled “Contrary to Obama, the Terror War Has Barely Begun”, is an eye opener. Spengler is the nom de plum of David P. Goldman, an unabashed believer in American Exceptionalism and its value to the world. The article makes some ominous predictions: “The collapse of Middle Eastern states from Libya to Afghanistan vastly increases the terrorist recruitment pool, while severely restricting the ability of American intelligence services to monitor and interdict the terrorists. In addition, it intensifies the despair that motivates Muslims like the Tsarnaev brothers or Michael Adebolajo to perpetrate acts of terrorism. That makes President Obama’s declaration that America is winding down the “war on terror”–a misnomer to begin with–the worst decision by an American commander-in-chief since the Buchanan administration, perhaps ever.” As true and bad as that statement is, what follows is worse: “Syria’s crack-up is at the top of the agenda, but the breakdown of putative nation-states extends across nearly all of the Muslim world. As Amos Harel reported in the Tablet symposium, the prime minister of Libya “has to cross checkpoints manned by five different militias, on his way home from office.”  In place of regular armies controlled by dictators, Libya is crisscrossed by ethnic and sectarian militias (including the one that murdered our ambassador last September). Egypt is on the brink of economic collapse and state failure; Iraq is in the midst of a low-intensity sectarian war; Syria’s civil war already is being fought out in Lebanon; and Turkey’s border has become unstable.”

What does this all mean? Spengler gives his conclusions: “The result is an enormous increase in the number of prospective terrorists and a drastic reduction in our capacity to control them. The motivation for terrorism has increased correspondingly. Radicalized Muslims must now contemplate the ruin of their civilization from Tripoli to Kabul. Millions of Syrians are displaced and have no homes to go back to. Millions of Egyptians are hungry. Not only the suffering, but the humiliation of the national ruin of Egypt and Syria leave radical Muslims with little to hope for. The motivation to take as much of the world down with them has mushroomed in the context of state failure.” But wait! There is more: “It is not simply a matter of non-state actors running out of control. The remaining states, prominently Iran, have seized the opportunity to increase their ability to use terror on a grand scale. Iran’s open attempt to turn Syria into a Persian satrapy–through Hezbollah as well as the infiltration of tens of thousands of Iranian fighters–is intended to gain control of Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal and to turn Syria into a weapons platform from which to attack Israel. The scattering of Middle Eastern arsenals (starting with Qaddafi’s shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles), meanwhile, provides terrorists with a quality of weaponry they never before possessed. There simply is no historic precedent for this deadly mixture of state and civil breakdown. American policy has piled blunder atop blunder.”

Thus, Americans should not be shocked to learn that our security from Jihadist attacks in our homeland or on our foreign missions and facilities can no longer be expected. There are far too many bad actors out there and we have too few resources with which to combat them. The Benghazi debacle was not even a good example of what to expect, as we were engaged in activity in Benghazi that led to the incident. No, what is likely to come will be the result of Obama Administration policies that are nowhere near likely to secure our safety at home or abroad. Whether is in Libya, Syria, Egypt, Iraq or the terrorist states like Iran, the vast number of recruits the Islamist Jihadists have coupled with their hatred of
“The Great Satan” almost surely will result in a significant uptick in actual lethal and bloody attacks. And soon.

A vast number of young men have been drawn into irregular combat. Syria has become the cockpit of a Sunni-Shi’ite war, with Turkey and the Gulf states funneling money and jihadists into Syria while Iran sends Revolutionary Guards and Hezbollah irregulars to the aid of the Assad regime. The young men of Libya already are mobilized into militias; Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood cells and Salafists and football mobs are not yet armed, but are organized. Iraq’s sectarians are armed to the teeth, in part thanks to American funding of the “Sunni Awakening” during the 2007-2008 surge. Very large numbers of young men are ready to fight to the death, while the breakup of the fragile civilian society of these countries draws more and more of them into the maelstrom. Terrorism has become a way of life in Syria, where both sides instigate atrocities, in part to intimidate their opponents and in part to bind their own fighters to the cause by making them complicit in such crimes.

The next, even more important and ominous piece is this PJ Tatler story by Raymond Ibrahim, entitled “The Calm Before The Jihadi Storm” is even more ominous and compelling. Ibrahim, a Middle East and Islamic expert with the David Horowitz Freedom Center and Associate Fellow at the Middle East Forum gives the West and America specific warnings about what he says is coming soon and what can no longer be prevented: Jihad! It’s important to remember that the very same U.S. policies that created al-Qaeda in Afghanistan in the 1980s—leading to the horrific attacks of 9/11—are today allowing al-Qaeda to metastasize all around the Muslim world.  As in the 80s, these new terrorist cells are quietly gathering strength now, and are sure to deliver future terror strikes that will make 9/11 seem like child’s play.”

After examining the US history of arming, empowering and sustaining the Jihadis that struck on September 11, 2001, Ibrahim says, “But if Reagan helped create the first al-Qaeda cell in relatively unimportant Afghanistan, Obama is helping to create numerous, more emboldened, al-Qaeda cells in some of the most important Islamic nations. He is doing this by helping get rid of Arab autocrats who were effective at suppressing jihadis (even if for selfish reasons), while empowering some of the most radical jihadis who were formerly imprisoned or in hiding. And all in the name of the “Arab Spring” and “democracy.” In Egypt, Obama threw Mubarak, America’s chief Mideast ally for three decades, under the bus, and cozied up to the Muslim Brotherhood.  Egypt’s government is today overrun with Islamists, many who share al-Qaeda’s radical worldview.  Several of these new policymakers—including President Morsi himself—were imprisoned under Mubarak, not, as the Western media portray, because they were freedom-loving rebels, but because they were, and are, Sharia-loving radicals trying to transform Egypt into an Islamist state. The Sinai alone is now infested with jihadis, including possibly al-Qaeda leader Ayman Zawahiri. In Libya, Obama supported the opposition against Gaddafi—knowing full well that al-Qaeda was among them—enabling the Benghazi attack and murder of Americans on the anniversary of 9/11.  The unprecedented persecution of Christians in Libya—from attacks on churches to attacks on nuns—is further indicative of the direction “liberated” Libya is taking.”

Ibrahim continues, ominously and prophetically, “And now in Syria, Obama is, once again, supporting foreign jihadis, who make up 95% of Syria’s so-called “opposition.”  As in Libya—and as in Afghanistan in the 80s—foreign jihadis are flooding Syria and terrorizing non-Muslims (a recent fatwa permits the raping of non-Sunni women), in their bid to create another base, another qaeda. One of them recently declared, “When we finish with Assad, we will fight the U.S.!”—precisely al-Qaeda’s thinking in the 80s-90s when it was supported by the U.S. against the U.S.S.R.

The writing is on the wall, America! We will again suffer terrorists attacks in American cities! Americans will die and the Obama Administration is complicit and responsible as no other Administration in US History! Ibrahim concludes: “Thus all the forces and circumstances that led up to the strikes of 9/11—foreign jihadis infiltrating and consolidating power in Muslim countries formerly run by secular dictators—are once again in full play, but in a much more profound way.  Today it’s not just one relatively unimportant country, Afghanistan, that is being subverted by jihadis but several strategically important nations.” He then asks the 16 trillion dollar question: “So why are American politicians not blowing the whistle on Obama’s suicidal policies?  Because their myopia and inability to see beyond today—beyond their tenure—has not changed since September 11, 2001.  Just as it took over a decade after al-Qaeda’s creation to launch the 9/11 attacks—a time of ostensible peace and calm for the U.S., a time of planning and training for the jihadis—it will take time for the new jihadi storm to pour on America. And that’s the era we’re currently in: the calm before the storm.  Just as before 9/11, today’s American leaders focus only on the moment—a moment when the U.S appears relatively safe—never considering the future or the inevitable consequences of a woefully counterproductive U.S. foreign policy.

Speaking of foreign policy, if Reagan supported the jihadis to combat the U.S.S.R—a hostile super-power—why is Obama supporting the jihadis?  What exactly does America have to gain? At any rate, just as it was before 9/11, when the jihadi storm eventually does break out—and it will, it’s a matter of time—those American politicians who helped empower it, chief among them Obama, will be long gone, and the talking heads will again be stupidly asking “What happened?” “Who knew?” Why do they hate us?” Read the whole article.

For some answers to the questions posed above, we turn to Dr. Mike Brown. Dr. Brown, a good friend and a Jewish scholar is no stranger to the forces of evil in this world. He is a Townhall columnist and has a daily radio call in show, “In The Line Of Fire”. His latest article for Townhall was, as usual, prescient and right on target. Entitled “Is Radical Islam Normative?”, the article answers some of Ibrahim’s questions. “Writing from Australia, CultureWatch commentator Bill Muehlenberg asked, “So how many more 9/11’s do we need before we wake up? How many more Bali bombings? How many more attempted beheadings like in London today [namely, May 23rd]? When will we wake up and realise that Islam is in fact a political ideology which has always been spread by the edge of the sword? When will we believe the words of Muhammad? When will we believe the Koran? When will we believe the hadith? When will we take them at their word when they tell us they intend to kill us? When will we understand that they want to see the entire world under submission to Islam and sharia law?” Dr. Brown’s article continues,

“So, who is speaking for normative Islam, or, more precisely, what is normative Islam? No one would argue that there are multiplied millions of Muslims, perhaps several hundred million Muslims, who are peace loving, who abhor violence in the name of Islam, and who are repulsed by the actions of the Boston Marathon bombers or the London machete murderers. The question is whether these Muslims are being true to the core values of their religion. Looking at this from a Christian perspective, while we might engage in a war with the Taliban in Afghanistan, this is not a holy war for us but a military campaign, even if Christian soldiers in the military feel they are doing God’s work in protecting America and rooting out terrorism. But no one – or at least, hardly anyone with a working brain – is thinking that it is our Christian duty to kill Muslims or that by decimating the Taliban we are advancing the gospel. (We can safely ignore the ridiculous claims of Mikey Weinstein here.) Even the exceptions to the rule, like Fred Phelps of the notorious (and tiny) Westboro Baptist Church, are not advocating murdering Muslims (or other Christians or Americans in general), and they are completely repudiated by virtually every recognized Christian group in the land.”

Then Dr. Brown gets down to the core: “Yet this universal repudiation of Islamic terror is never to be found in Muslim circles for at least two reasons: 1) Muslim leaders do not universally repudiate these acts, since many consider this to be a valid expression of jihad. 2) In many cases, those Muslims who want to speak out will not for fear of their lives. As an anonymous (!), atheist Pakistani blogger writes, “I have ideas and opinions that are unconventional, as far as most Pakistanis are concerned. I’m not the only one who thinks differently, but the systematic silencing of our nation’s free-thinkers, has reduced the non-religious and liberal population to a small, scattered class of individuals.” This reminds me of Muslim protesters in England a few years back who basically said, “How dare you call us terrorists! We will kill you!”

Then, like Déjà vu all over again, Dr. Brown notes: “But there’s something far weightier to consider as we look at the severe Islamic persecution of Christians in countries like Iraq and Egypt and Syria and northern Nigeria. The fact is that this has happened before, and it took place during the so-called Golden Age of Islam. Church historian John Phillip Jenkins tells the story in his important book The Lost History of Christianity. “As late as the eleventh century,” he writes, “Asia was still home to at least a third of the world’s Christians, and perhaps a tenth of all Christians still lived in Africa—a figure that the continent would not reach again until the 1960s. Even in 1250, it still made sense to think of a Christian world stretching east from Constantinople to Samarkand (at least) and south from Alexandria to the desert of the Ogaden, almost to the equator.” What happened to this thriving, intellectually vibrant Christianity? Jenkins explains, “And yet this older Christian world perished, destroyed so comprehensively that its memory is forgotten by all except academic specialists.” It was virtually wiped out by violent Islamic persecution, “especially during the fourteenth century, [when] church hierarchies were destroyed, priests and monks were killed, enslaved, or expelled, and monasteries and cathedrals fell silent. As church institutions fell, so Christian communities shrank, the result of persecution or ethnic and religious cleansing.”

Mike Brown concludes that, “Perhaps radical Islam is more normative than many of us would like to believe. At the very least, Islam has a potentially violent core that is deeply associated with its fundamental principles of faith.”

It is a long slog through all this, America. Reading the three articles take time and effort, thought and prayer! The question is, will you and I take or make the time or will we create the climate for the violent, centuries old history of Jihad and Islamofacists to repeat itself. Edmund Burke is celebrated for having said All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”  We who know the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the ONE GOD, Jehovah know that God did not give His people a spirit of fear. We do not fear terror. We have been given a spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind by God! (See 2 Timothy 1:7) Nevertheless, we cannot stick our collective or individual heads in the sand and deny what is so clearly threatening our way of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We must do something, even if our government and our President and his administration does nothing or worse, colludes with and plays nice with our enemies. What say you, America?

The Last Debate – Foreign Policy (America’s Chance to Choose)

On Monday, October 22nd, the last of the three Presidential Debates will take place. We have been encouraged by the number of Americans who have watched the first two debates. Almost 150 million of “us” have cared enough about this nation to carefully scrutinize the man who will be our next President. Fittingly, the final debate will be on foreign policy. With everything that is happening on Libya, in the Middle East and with President Obama’s scant experience prior to assuming the Presidency, Americans know that they must choose our next leader carefully.

An Excellent Spirit has referred to Stratfor, the intelligence site of George Friedman as one of our sources. Today, the site led with this: “The U.S. presidency: a bold, decisive, noble institution wherein the fate of the nation is dictated by one man. Truth is, while the president has marginally more authority in foreign policy than in domestic affairs, his freedom to act is constrained by public opinion, partisan politics, and above all, by the realities of geopolitics. Romney and Obama may differ ideologically‒after all, to get elected, candidates need to convey different ideals‒but world events will inevitably shape foreign policy more so than the president’s original intentions‒resulting in similar outcomes, no matter who is elected.”

Aside from the Libyan disaster, the Obama Administration has been telling “us” that Al Qaeda is almost vanquished since the death of Bin Laden. We have been fed a narrative by the lamestream media that all is well with our foreign policy, until the Libyan disaster on September 11th, a few short weeks ago. Now, we are starting to notice more than a few cracks in the American wall. This Townhall column by Stratfor’s Friedman is helpful for understanding what is really happening. Friedman says: “Al Qaeda, the group established by Osama bin Laden and his colleagues, was never very large — there were never more than a few hundred actual members. We often refer to this group, now led by Ayman al-Zawahiri, as the al Qaeda core or al Qaeda prime. While the group’s founders trained tens of thousands of men at their camps in Afghanistan and Sudan, they initially viewed themselves as a vanguard organization working with kindred groups to facilitate the jihad they believed was necessary to establish a global Islamic caliphate. Most of the men trained at al Qaeda camps were members of other organizations or were grassroots jihadists. The majority of them received basic paramilitary training, and only a select few were invited to receive additional training in terrorist tradecraft skills such as surveillance, document forgery and bombmaking. Of this select group, only a few men were invited to join the al Qaeda core organization.”

The President has told America that “the war on terror is over”. Not so says Mr. Friedman. “As we mentioned long before Moammar Gadhafi was ousted in Libya, jihadists and other militants thrive in power vacuums. This assertion has proved true in Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia, and more recently in Libya, northern Mali and now Syria. Weapons flooding into such regions only compound the problem. Militant Islamists have seized the opportunity to grow in influence in such places, as have the subset of militant Islamists we call jihadists. So in this context, while the al Qaeda core has been crippled, other portions of the jihadist movement are thriving. This is especially so among those that aspire to mount local insurgencies rather than those more concerned with planning transnational attacks. The nuances are important because as the composition and objectives of jihadist groups change, so do their methods of attack.” Read the whole thing.

Finally, Townhall had this piece by Cliff May. “Since then, AQ and/or its affiliates have launched lethal attacks on American diplomatic compounds in Libya and Yemen, hoisted an al-Qaeda flag above the U.S. embassy in Cairo, resurged in Iraq, and put boots on the ground in Syria. They have bombed Christian churches in Nigeria and the mosques of Sufi Muslims in Mali. They have battled African Union troops in Somalia. Within the last week, Taliban terrorists shot Malala Yousafzai, a 14-year-old Pakistani, for the “crime” of advocating education for girls, and bombed the office of moderate tribal elders in northwest Pakistan, killing at least 17 people. In this light, it seems obvious to me that reports of AQ’s demise are at least premature. And I’m not alone. “Obama was out saying, Hey, look, we have got al-Qaeda back on its heels,” investigative reporter Bob Woodward said on Sunday. “Well, anyone in the intelligence committee knows that’s not true.” May points out that the philosophy that rules Al Qaeda, Iran and other terrorist states and organizations is vile. “The jihadi philosophy/ideology is — no less than Nazism — “based on conquest and the subjugation of other people.” The late Father Richard John Neuhaus aptly defined jihadism as a religiously inspired ideology built on the teaching “that it is the moral obligation of all Muslims to employ whatever means necessary in order to compel the world’s submission to Islam.” Read the whole thing here. He concludes that America is pronouncing an enemy vanquished and a war over that “we” have yet to understand, much less contest. It’s only over when “the fat lady sings” and she has not even begun to warm her voice. “Proponents of the AQ-is-defeated theory also ignore the fact that Saudi petro-princes continue to spend billions to spread Wahhabism, a strain of Islam that disdains freedom and promotes hatred of infidels and apostates. Wahhabism plants the seeds of jihadism. And of course it should be clear by now that the regime that rules Iran embraces a jihadi ideology. Iran’s rulers are Shia, a minority within the Muslim world, which makes their aspiration to lead a pan-Islamic global revolution against the West challenging. But that is their goal — a goal they have reaffirmed repeatedly over the past 33 years; a goal that will be greatly facilitated should they acquire nuclear weapons. It is in pursuit of this goal that they are forcing average Iranians to absorb the economic pain of intensifying sanctions. Roosevelt and Churchill grasped what too many analysts in government, academia, media, and think tanks do not: To prevail against America’s enemies, kinetic warfare is necessary but insufficient. An ideological war, a war of ideas, also must be waged. And on that front, we have not yet begun to fight.

Let all of “us” pray that on Monday, “we” hear some truth and facts, not the spin and obfuscation (lies) “they” have fed Americans to our detriment. God bless America!

Lies and Liars – “We” Are Being Lied To

An Excellent Spirit has told our readers this before, so it should not be news: Americans are being intentionally lied to. By the lamestream media. By our government. By a lot of sources about a lot of things! The attack on our Libyan Consulate and murder of our Ambassador and three other Americans on September 11th is a case in point. “They” told “us” for almost two weeks that they knew who was responsible for the “spontaneous” attack. It was the producer of some video most of us had never heard of, but which enraged a bunch of murderous Islamic terrorists into a crime of passion type murder. That is what was reported. That is what our government, US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, Ambassador Susan Rice, Presidential spokesman Jay Carney, even President Obama at the United Nations, told Americans. Then. Today, “we” are getting more and more “facts”, but not from any of “them”. Brietbart has these reports:  “An email has surfaced indicating the State Dept. rejected security requests made by Benghazi consulate personnel months before the deadly attacks took place.” And “Every time you think the administration’s failure in Benghazi couldn’t get worse, it gets worse. Eli Lake reports that in the six months leading up to the September 11 attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, security was not only not strengthened, it was actually reduced. The bombshell comes via Jason Chaffetz who leads a subcommittee of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform committee which is looking into the attack. Chaffetz says “The fully trained Americans who can deal with a volatile situation were reduced in the six months leading up to the attacks.” The State Department did not dispute the claim. Instead, a senior official claimed Wednesday that cuts in security were routine given that Benghazi was a war zone in 2011. However the suggestion that Benghazi had become safer in the six months prior to September 11 is undercut by the pattern of attacks on western outposts which led the British to abandon their consulate on the same street. It is also belied by the State Department’s own strongly worded travel advisory issued two weeks before the deadly attack.”

Every so often, An Excellent Spirit comes across a credible explanation for some of the deception, lies and worse “we” are getting. On Fox News a few days ago, we saw K. T. McFarland, a foreign affairs expert. “McFarland asserts that the Obama administration knows that this was not a spontaneous attack, but ahead of the election is trying to place the blame elsewhere, “so that nobody can blame them for a failed Middle East policy.” Here is a clip of McFarland’s recent analysis.
We also saw McFarland on Fox’s O’Reilly Factor where she explained that the diplomatic part of our government works the same as the rest of it. There are Presidential appointees to the top positions, like Secretary of State and Ambassador. Then there are civil servants. These people are unknown and unseen by most of “us”. We are still trying to locate a clip of the O’Reilly interview and will bring it to you when we do.  These reports are but a few of many that are surfacing as we get further from the spin that followed the tragedy in Benghazi on September 11th. The problem is that no one has any way of doing anything about the tragic and systematic lying that “they” do to “us”! Americans know it. “We” feel it and sense it with every report. “We” think it is criminal! “We” want it stopped! “We” demand the truth! About everything, from our government!

The important thing for Americans to realize in this Election season is that these civil servants are the folks that are leaking all these emails and documents. Our government, we were told by President Obama would be “the most transparent in our history” has not and will not tell “us” the truth. So much for openness and transparency. These lower level government workers do not like it when our government, with the complicit assistance of the lamestream media, try to make it like “they” are not responsible for anything. It bothers the civil servants and they will not stand for it. Sooner or later, some truth is revealed, even if it has to be leaked. It is tragic and most believable by most of “us”. The only hope we have is a new “top” of government. There is an old Sicilian saying, “The fish stinks from the head”. It means that if something smells, look at the head, nowhere else for the source of the stench. That is where it always comes from. “We” are looking and “we” will find a head that smells better than the one we have now. On November 6th. Remember in November! VOTE on November 6th

Middle East In Flames

It is hard to tell where there is peace and quiet in the Middle East today. With the deaths of the American Ambassador and three others in Libya, the storming of the American Embassy in Cairo and what look like coordinated uprisings in Yemen, Algeria and Iraq, among others, Friday is not looking good. Here is a rundown on the major stories.

Rubin Reports has this pessimistic story. “Yahoo highlighted two amazing stories shortly after the murder of five American diplomats in Libya and the attack on the U.S. embassy in Egypt that tell us a lot about the intersection between American reality and Middle East reality. The first article insisted that American officials thought the terror attack on the U.S. embassy was planned (yeah, I don’t think the terrorists were passing by and just happened to have a rocket with them). The other asked tentatively whether maybe the “Arab Spring” hadn’t worked out so well. It’s almost the end of 2012 and these people are still in kindergarten! Libya tells the story with a terrible irony, but we should understand precisely what is going on and how the situation in Libya differs from that in Egypt. For it is proof of the bankruptcy of Obama policy, but perhaps in a different way from what many people think. So far the U.S. ambassador, four diplomats, and two U.S. soldiers trying to rescue the rest of the staff have been killed. According to a Libyan officer whose unit was helping the American rescue effort, the terrorists seemed to know precisely where the staffers were hiding. Might they have been tipped off by sources in the Libyan government or military? Probably. What happened in Libya has nothing to do with an obscure video from California; it has everything to do with the question of which side rules Libya. And the relationship of the attacks to the September 11 anniversary was meant to show that the Libyan terrorists supported September 11 and wanted to continue that battle.” Rubin ends with this: Treating what has happened in Libya as an isolated tragedy misses the point. Viewing it as generalized proof of Obama’s terrible policy doesn’t get us to the solution. There is a battle going on in the Middle East that will continue for decades. Obama has largely helped the enemy side. In Libya, while he gave some help to the Islamists, his basic policy supported the moderates for once. Now the price must be paid or one more country will fall to revolutionary Islamist rule and U.S. influence and credibility will decline even further. This is a war, not a misunderstanding. It is a battle of ideologies and a struggle for control of state power, not hurt feelings over some obscure video.” Emphasis ours. One question. Why is none of this reported in the lamestream media?

Protesters Storm American Embassies in Yemen and Egypt From Newsmax comes this: “Chanting “death to America” and “death to Israel,” hundreds of protesters angered by an anti-Islam film stormed the U.S. Embassy compound in Yemen’s capital and burned the American flag on Thursday, the latest in a series of attacks on American diplomatic missions in the Middle East. The string of assaults this week, in Yemen, Egypt and the storming of a U.S. consulate in Libya that killed four Americans, point to an increased boldness among Islamists who have become more powerful since last year’s wave of revolts toppled authoritarian leaders.” Read all about it.

The Day The Roof Fell In This from Walter Russell Meade, blogger and Obama voter in 2008, says our foreign policy blew it. “Sometimes trouble blows up out of a clear blue sky. That’s what happened to the White House yesterday. But that was before 9/11/12, the day the roof fell in. The Chicago teacher strike raised doubts about the President’s domestic leadership, the publication of Bob Woodward’s new book raised questions about his economic management and political skills, and 11 years to the day after the 9/11 attack, radical America-hating Islamists stormed the U.S. embassies in Cairo and Benghazi, assassinated the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three others even as U.S. and Israeli relations sank to another low point. “No drama” Obama is in it now: his ex-chief of staff is locked in a high profile cage fight with one of the most important unions and donors in the Democratic stable in his home town; his humanitarian intervention in Libya has created yet another bloody Middle East imbroglio for the United States; his efforts to reconcile the U.S. and moderate Islamism—in part by distancing the U.S. from Israel—have angered Israel without reducing Islamist bitterness against the United States.” It is all here. Again, Americans can search far and wide, but will have to go to European or the blogosphere to read any of these facts and opinions. They just do not praise the One “they” praise.

The Public Relations Disaster That Fueled the Fire This, from Foreign Policy details how US Embassy employees tied not only the US State Department but the President and the Administration in knots and sent them scurrying to try and deal with them and not the terrible, growing crises all over the Middle East. “One staffer at the U.S. Embassy in Cairo was responsible for the statement and tweets Tuesday that have become grist for the presidential campaign, and that staffer ignored explicit State Department instructions not to issue the statement, one U.S. official close to the issue told The Cable.” And “”The statement was not cleared with anyone in Washington. It was sent as ‘This is what we are putting out,'” the official said. “We replied and said this was not a good statement and that it needed major revisions. The next email we received from Embassy Cairo was ‘We just put this out.'” A heated discussion ensued among State Department and White House officials over e-mail as the controversy over the statement grew Tuesday evening, even grabbing the attention of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Meanwhile, those same officials were dealing with a more serious attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that resulted in the death of four American officials, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.” It certainly seems as if the roof has fallen in on the United States if the State Department and the Administrations lack of competence is any indication. Foreign Policy is among the most respected sites on the blogospere. Read the whole thing.

Then These Brietbart Articles Told Us More First was this about how the Libyan security forces betrayed our US diplomats. “According to a CBS News report updated at 8:39 am Eastern time Wednesday, the Libyan security forces hired to protect the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya moved Ambassador Chris Stevens to a second building within the consulate, then told the militant crowds where he was: Wanis al-Sharef, a Libyan Interior Ministry official in Benghazi, said the four Americans were killed when the angry mob, which gathered to protest a U.S.-made film that ridicules Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, fired guns and burned down the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. He said Stevens, 52, and other officials were moved to a second building, deemed safer, after the initial wave of protests at the consulate. According to al-Sharef, members of the Libyan security team seem to have indicated to the protesters the building to which the American officials had been relocated, and that building then came under attack. Stevens, 52, was the first U.S. ambassador to be killed in the line of duty since 1979.” Here

Next, we have this on how President Obama and the lamestream media are losing the Middle East. (Link) “In the first and second parts of this series on the Muslim Brotherhood’s takeover of Egypt–and what it means for the US and its allies–we noted that both the Obama administration and the mainstream media have consistently misjudged the political ambitions of the Brotherhood during and after the Tahrir Square eruption in January 2011. And then, we further noted, every time their misjudgments were demonstrated, every time the Brotherhood scored a gain, the Obamans and the MSM responded by insisting that nothing bad was happening. In other words, the message was: yes, we always get it wrong–but trust us anyway. So now let’s take a closer look at the most recent events in the Middle East as a whole, and how they might affect Israel. And let’s begin to consider whether or not this consistency of misjudgment is just relentless stupidity–or, in fact, part of a sinister pattern that could undermine the Jewish State’s ability to defend itself. Today in Egypt, as radicals storm the U.S. embassy in Cairo, President Mohamed Morsi and his Brotherhood government are cementing their Islamist takeover of the nation. They are not only suppressing freedom of the press, but also installing their people in the commanding heights of the media, including the first-ever Egyptian female television news presenter to wear a hijab.

Finally, there are these on the President on the Muslim Brotherhood and his reaction to the growing crises (Link, Link) Read both. An Excellent Spirit believes our readers should have access to all the news that the lamestream media does not want us to have and will not publish so we can have it! We told you yesterday there would be more and to pray. Today, we know that there will be still more and we must increase our prayers for America, Israel, the entire Middle East and the world.

Another Shooting! Where Is The Media?

The shooting at The Family Research Council in our nation’s Capitol, a few blocks from Congress and the White House was sparsely reported by the “lamestream media”. Here is a report from GOPUSA, a source “they” apparently don’t use: They also reported that the shooter was not a Tea Partier or other right wing “perp”.

The Capitol Hill shooting, in addition to being all but ignored by the media, unbelievably,   did not provoke the usual tsunami of calls for gun control and other “progressive” remedies to everything “they” don’t like. America is shocked! What happened, did “they” get religion, or something?

What America did see is the right way to respond to such horrors, “The police are investigating this incident,” Family Research Council President Tony Perkins said. “Our first concern is with our colleague who was shot today.  Our concern is for him and his family.” Perkins later gave a brief press briefing: When will the media ever report to us the news that the left does not like?

Full Disclosure: An Excellent Spirit has been acquainted with Tony Perkins and Family Research Council for years. They are a credible, authoritative group who are deserving of the attention and gratitude of all Americans. Please pray for the victim, Leo Johnson and the FRC workers targeted by the “domestic terrorist”. Donate to FRC if you agree with An Excellent Spirit. That is the best way to reply to this reprehensible attack.

Is the War On Terror Over?

The US State Department recently trumpeted that the “war on terror is over!” Really?

Not so much, it appears. The Jewish World Review had this article on May 3, 2012 by Clifford D. May that would indicate otherwise.

Mr. May says: “Osama bin Laden sleeps with the fishes and many of his lieutenants have learned the hard way how accurate American-made unmanned aerial vehicles can be. But as Rand Corporation scholar Seth Jones recently noted, with “a handful of regimes teetering from the Arab Spring, al-Qaeda is pushing into the vacuum and riding a resurgent wave as its affiliates engage in a violent campaign of attacks across the Middle East and North Africa. . . . Al-Qaeda is regrouping.”

“An unnamed senior State Department official told National Journal’s Michael Hirsh that “the War on Terror is over.” He (or she?) elaborated: “Now that we have killed most of al-Qaeda, . . . people who once might have gone into al-Qaeda see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism.” Emphasis mine.

May correctly informs that “legitimate Islamism,” implies the Muslim Brotherhood, among other suspect organizations.

Andrew C. McCarthy recounts in “The Grand Jihad: How Islam and the Left Sabotage America”

“American Muslim Brothers meeting in Philadelphia in 1991 produced an internal memorandum candidly proclaiming their mission: “eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and ‘sabotaging’ its miserable house.”

Should our State Department really be calling this “legitimate Islamism” — and should the People really be comfortable with this concept at all?

Perhaps our government is telling us that the war on terror is over because it has gone to the dogs? (Link)

Brietbart.com, Bid Peace weighs in here.  Few Americans believe that the Islamic “war” is over. Since September 11, 2001, there has been little to no evidence of that, no matter how our government tries to sell it. “If wishes were horses, beggars would ride” goes an old Irish proverb. America is not a nation of beggars and we do not wish for what we know not to be true.

Terrorism Can Never Be Ignored

An Excellent Spirit knows that one of America’s most critical problems is that, while we struggle with our National Debt, rising deficits, voter fraud, Obamacare and all the rest of our seemingly insoluble challenges, the specter of terrorism is all but ignored.

While our attention is elsewhere, the terrible reality of mass murder and bombs in the midst of our neighborhoods can never be out of mind. This recent article on the FBI failing to investigate the Ft. Hood murderer and this story in Jewish World Report by Clifford D. May serve as a reminder to all.

Mr. May knows that we cannot keep sticking our collective national head into the sand and hope the problem will go away. It will not. Let us pray that we do not learn another awful and tragic lesson to our detriment.

An Excellent Spirit trusts that hopes America will remember and be vigilant; or we will remember and mourn once again as we did on September 11, 2001. God forbid!

Blowing Up the Pyramids?

Stories about how the Islamists in Egypt want to blow up the Pyramids make one wonder. How can men want to blow up one of the Seven Wonders of the World? What is there about Islamic clerics that leads them endorse such preposterous actions?

Perhaps, we, in America would understand better if we understood why, in California, environmental zealots in the National Park Service are now proposing to demolish three historic arched bridges that span the Merced River on the California’s Yosemite Valley floor.

This story by Victor Davis Hanson in Jewish World Report tells the astounding story. Perhaps, some of us are not as far from understanding the Islamic zealots as An Excellent Spirit and most Americans would wish. Read the whole thing.

The Aurora Tragedy

The horrible shooting that killed 12 innocent souls and wounded 58 others cannot go without comment. Like most right thinking Americans, An Excellent Spirit is deeply saddened and affected by what happened in Aurora, Colorado yesterday. To be sure, there will be all kinds of comments, reactions and lessons we will be told that we must learn in the aftermath.

An Excellent Spirit cannot go there this soon. Instead, for the present, we are stuck in a place of mourning for each life that was lost and for each person wounded. We are trying desperately to understand why any human being would bring this horror upon others.

The poet, John Donne, long ago said it as well as anyone. Hemingway used it, so can An Excellent Spirit:

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend’s were.
Each man’s death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.
(Emphasis mine)
An Excellent Spirit prays that America learn one great lesson from every tragedy and triumph: America has An Excellent Spirit!  We, the People, united in our will and purpose, cannot be defeated. (Genesis 11: 5,6)
There is one thing that Americans can all do in this hour of grief. Pray. Pray. And pray some more. America desperately needs to find our way. For now, An Excellent Spirit knows that prayer is the way we can find our way. God, bless America!

Standing Up to Save America

There is much being said in the media today about the political incorrectness of opposition to the Islamists and their actions. First, there is this almost unbelievable story about the Ft. Hood massacre and what was not done that might have prevented it. Link

Then this story about a defiant Islamist in Minnesota.

Benjamin Franklin said: “Disobedience to tyrants is Obedience to God.”

Standing up to tyrants, resisting the “progressives” and their “political correctness” and strict  enforcement of law is the only way for America and those who represent us to obey God, for God says, “You must be holy because I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:16)

Time to stand up, America. If any one says not, tell them what Ben said. Then disobey them!

Occupy Terrorists

You may have seen the stories in the “mainstream media” that the “Occupiers” at the Chicago NATO gathering in May were planning to bomb the event.

Breitbart 1Breitbart 2Breitbart 3Breitbart 4Breitbart 5Breitbart 6Breitbart 7 and Breitbart 8

It seems that Occupy NATO has crossed the line between uncivil protest. When the protest is accompanied by random, indefensible acts bordering on and surpassing criminality, that is bad enough. When heinous criminal acts intent on harming innocent people to make whatever point they are espousing are revealed, things have gone way too far!

Tactics like that do more than demand our attention. They will not work. Not for we, the People. Not when there are folks like us who could be maimed or killed. And not for the Occupiers who would graduate from mostly misdemeanor charges to Class A Federal Terrorism charges and Murder. Life and even death sentences can result from the investigations that will result. The accusations and counter charges that will be leveled are bound to confuse everyone.

That is not Occupation. It is pure, unadulterated hatred and treason. Put a sock in it, please.
