Obama’s America – Divided

People tend to vote their pocketbooks, or as Bill Clinton’s advisor once told him in the middle of a campaign he was losing,”It’s the economy, stupid!” Bill Clinton listened, changed his positions and won the election. That was 1996. In 2008, America was sold hope and change and a more united America. Many, if not most, Americans had hoped that there would that kind of change. They yearned not so much change of ideas. More a change of attitude, less bellicosity, more success and less failure. Now it is 2012 and “we” have the change “they” have for “us: That change has not worked and our hope is dwindling. The Obama Administration’s change has not helped unite America, it has further divided us. That is not what Americans were promised, nor did we seek it. Among the decisions Americans will make this November, perhaps the most important is whether we will keep going down the road to division and failure.

In four years, America has not come forward, we have deteriorated. We were promised cut spending and we got The Fiscal Cliff. We were promised lower deficits and we glibly passed 16 Trillion (up from 10.6) on our way to 25 Trillion. America neither sought this, nor can America abide such results and reward the leaders producing our financial ruin with another 4 years. Too much of the “old” has been abandoned in favor of some new “green” or “alternative” program or other ideological panacea. These are not only not working; they are costing more while delivering us into bankruptcy and over the Fiscal Cliff into Taxmageddon. Americans, despite the collusion of the lamestream media that acts as an Obama press arm, has been lied to, is being lied to and will be lied to by the Administration. What we are told will cost 800 billion really costs two to three times that; when we are told a stimulus will get things moving, we find that the only things stimulated were a series of “green energy” bankruptcies so Obama donors would not have to repay the people their money. These lies are rebutted by a single graph produced by the Congressional Budget Office, below.

This in PJ Tatler  is increasingly  representative of the left of center response to Obama’s failure. “Former Obama supporter Mort Zuckerman writing in the Wall Street Journal: We are still almost five million payrolls shy of where we were at the end of 2007, when the recession began. Think about that when you hear the Obama administration’s talk of an economic recovery. The key indicator of our employment health, in all the statistics, is what the government calls U-6. This is the number who have applied for work in the past six months and includes people who are involuntary part-time workers-government-speak for those individuals whose jobs have been cut back to two or three days a week. They are working part-time only because they’ve been unable to find full-time work. This involuntary army of what’s called “underutilized labor” has been hovering for months at about 15% of the workforce. Include the eight million who have simply given up looking, and the real unemployment rate is closer to 19%. In short, the president’s ill-designed stimulus program was a failure. For all our other national concerns, and the red herrings that typically swim in electoral waters, American voters refuse to be distracted from the No. 1 issue: the economy. And even many of those who have jobs are hurting, because annual wage increases have dropped to an average of 1.6%, the lowest in the past 30 years. Adjusting for inflation, wages are contracting.” President Obama”And that’s why this plan eliminates tax loopholes that primarily go to the wealthiest taxpayers and biggest corporations — tax breaks that small businesses and middle-class families don’t get.  And if tax reform doesn’t get done, this plan asks the wealthiest Americans to go back to paying the same rates that they paid during the 1990s, before the Bush tax cuts.” –President Obama

The handwriting is on the wall of American values, but is anyone seeing what has been written these last four years with a clear eye and a quiet spirit? The class warfare that we are fed each day by our lamestream media and those who would lead us is obvious. Our own government agencies mislead and propagandize like this: “Environmental Protection Agency staff opened their inboxes Thursday to find an agency-wide Hispanic Heritage Month email featuring a prominent picture of Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara, and largely plagiarized from the website Buzzle.com.

Americans must ask how can you lead a divided country? Before these last years the words “United, we Stand, Divided, we fall.” could be heard in the hearts and spirits of most Americans, no matter where they came from, no matter what their party, ethnicity, political or social beliefs. Once, they were more than mere words. They were first spoken in 1768 and have reverberated down through the years to the days after September 2001. With the class warfare, ethnic division and lamestream media propaganda, where are those words now?

America is a people, not a class warring against another class. We are a nation of believers and good consciences, not a suspicious, accusing segment of “special interests” or ethnic cadres jealous of what some other one has or gets. We are all in this together and we will sink or swim together. Unfortunately, the Obama for President campaign does not seem to agree. As Katie Pavlich points out in Townhall, in reaction to the new Obama States of America Flag, “We don’t live in ObamaNation, although it’s starting to feel that way, we live in the United States of America. In this country, we don’t put politicians or logos representative of politicians on our flags because we live in a Republic of the people, by the people and for the people, not figure heads ruling a dictatorship. This flag represents Obama, while the United States flag represents the people and our country.” Read the whole thing and pay attention to the two videos posted in the piece.

Lloyd Marcus is one of those who is not buying what the Obama Administration is selling.  “As an American who happens to be black, I was badgered, “Lloyd, you should be delighted by the historical context of America electing it’s first black president.”  I was not. Feeling like a lone voice crying in the wilderness, I dared to follow the instruction of an extraordinary leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Therefore, I judged Barack Hussein Obama by the content of his character rather than the color of his skin. Obama’s admitted plan to “spread the wealth around” and his anti-American associations told me that he was the wrong man to lead the greatest nation on the planet.  Obama’s divisive, dictatorial, and bullying behavior has proven me correct.” Read the whole thing. Our current administration does not seem to know this. If it does, it certainly does not talk like they do.  At a recent Congressional hearing, this was stated, on the record “During the case Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School v. EEOC, heard by the Supreme Court, Windham observed, ‘I was not alone in my shock when the Obama administration’s lawyers opposed our position by arguing that churches are no different than bowling clubs, and that our First Amendment guarantee of religious freedom does not protect religious organizations.’ ” Read the whole thing.

If Americans do not re-discover what unites us; if we do not begin to stand for unity and purpose, not against everything someone else is saying or doing, America will not survive the terrible crises that threatens to overwhelm the rest of the world and engulf America as well. The way to win an Election may be to divide and conquer those who bother to vote and discourage all but the insipid fringes from participating in the partisanship. That is what political consultants, ideologues and activists of every stripe preach. The way to govern a Republic and to safeguard the values that today still draw millions to the ideal that government is by the consent of the governed, is to unite all of us under the banner of freedom and unity, not division and class warfare. God bless America! Remember in November! VOTE!
